Use this checker if an oven will not heat, heats poorly, or a cooktop burner will not heat or ignite. It separates safe settings, power, door, burner-cap, and supply checks from faults that need appliance service. It does not ask you to open panels, adjust gas components, or test live electrical parts.
Safe Oven and Burner Checks
- Confirm Bake/Cook mode, temperature, and Start/confirm.
- Check for Delay Start, Control Lock, or Demo/showroom mode.
- Check the household breaker once.
- Make sure the oven door closes normally.
- For a gas cooktop, make sure removable burner caps are dry, visibly clean, and seated correctly.
- Record any error code before resetting the appliance.
When the Problem Needs Service
If settings, power, door closure, and basic burner-cap checks are normal but the oven still will not heat or a burner still will not operate, the cause can involve heating elements, igniters, sensors, controls, switches, wiring, valves, or other internal components. Those are service-level checks.
For broader troubleshooting, see common oven, stove and range problems, the oven/stove/range repair cost guide, or oven, stove and range repair service.
Source basis: Safe first-line checks are consistent with current LG and Samsung support guidance for ovens and ranges, with gas-leak safety aligned to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission guidance. Exact control modes, voltage requirements, ignition behavior, and burner designs vary by model.
